Понятие о категориях железнодорожных линий

Новые железнодорожные линии сооружают для освоения новых рай­онов и их природных богатств, для разгрузки грузонапряженных существующих линий, сокращения пути и времени следования пассажиров и грузов. Новые линии могут существенно отличаться по своему значению, размерам и характеру перевозок. В зависимости от этих факторов технические требования и нормы, которыми руковод­ствуются при разработке проектов железнодорожных линий, диффе­ренцированы.
Строительные нормы и правила (СНиП 11-39—76), являющиеся основным руководством при проектировании, предусматривают деле­ние новых железных дорог и подъездных путей колеи 1520 мм на пять категорий. От категории линии зависят основные параметры и технические условия ее проектирования, мощность всех устройств линии. Основные показатели железнодорожных линий по категори­ям даны в табл. 5.
