Назначение и классификация раздельных пунктов

Для пропуска заданного количества поездов по участку и обеспечения безопасности движения железнодорожные линии делятся на пере­гоны, т. е. на участки пути, отделяемые друг от друга раздельными пунктами.
Раздельными пунктами являются станции, разъезды, обгонные пункты и путевые посты, а при автоматической блокировке — и про­ходные светофоры.
Разъездами называются раздельные пункты на однопутных линиях, имеющие путевое развитие, предназначенное для скрещения и обгона поездов.
Обгонные пункты — это раздельные пункты на двухпут­ных линиях, имеющие путевое развитие, допускающее обгон поездов и в необходимых случаях перевод поезда о одного главного пути на другой.
Станциями называются раздельные пункты, имеющие пу­тевое развитие, позволяющее производить операции по приему, от­правлению, скрещению и обгону поездов, операции по приему, выдаче грузов и обслуживанию пассажиров, а при развитых путевых устрой­ствах — маневровую работу по расформированию и формированию поездов и технические операции с поездами.
В системе железнодорожного транспорта станции являются ос­новными производственно-хозяйственными единицами, на которых осуществляется непосредственная связь железных дорог о клиенту­рой. На станциях выполняются начальные и конечные операции пере­возочного процесса и большая работа по обеспечению движения поездов.
По характеру работы станции делятся на промежуточные, уча­стковые, сортировочные, пассажирские и грузовые. Станции, к ко­торым примыкает не менее трех магистральных линий, называются уз­ловыми. В зависимости от объема и сложности работы и наличия тех или иных технических устройств станции подразделяют на классы. Станции, имеющие большой объем работы и высокий уровень тех­нического оснащения, являются внеклассными, за ними следуют стан­ции I, II, III, IV и V классов.
